About Us

Howard Lumber Company was established in the early 1930s by Charlton C. Howard on Sunset Boulevard in Augusta, Georgia. The firm moved to its location at 1900 Milledgeville Road several years after opening. It was the original site of Georgia Hardwood Lumber Company, operated by Owen Cheatham and Eugene Howard. Georgia Hardwood later became known as Georgia Pacific Corporation and quickly earned a worldwide reputation for excellence.

In March of 1946, W. B. Badger, J. W. Carson, and Austin Kilham purchased Howard Lumber Company. The Badger and Carson families managed the business for the next forty years. W. J. (Billy) Badger took ownership in 1985.
